ISO 286 fit & tolerance calculator

Free ISO 286-1:2010 fit calculator: enter a size from 1 to 500 mm and a hole and shaft class to get the limits, clearance or interference and a fit diagram. Example: H7/g6 at Ø25 mm gives a clearance of 0.007–0.041 mm.

What this calculates

For any nominal size from 1 to 500 mm, this calculator returns the upper and lower limit deviations of the hole and of the shaft, the maximum and minimum clearance or interference between them, and a fit diagram placing both tolerance zones against the zero line. Every value is taken from ISO 286-1:2010, across 46 hole classes and 53 shaft classes — from loose running fits such as H11/c11 to heavy interference fits such as H7/u6. Full deviation tables for each class, over the whole size range, are in the hole and shaft tolerance tables.

How it works

Enter the nominal size and pick a hole and shaft tolerance class. The calculator looks up the standard tolerance (IT grade) and fundamental deviation from ISO 286-1:2010, computes the limit deviations for both parts and derives the maximum and minimum clearance or interference. The diagram shows both tolerance zones against the zero line. New to the notation? See how to read a fit like H7/g6.
