About e9
e9 denotes a shaft tolerance zone with running clearance deviation in the ISO 286 system. It is used in H9/e9 (Plain bearings with ample lubrication, multi-bearing shafts, long bushes.) and H8/e9 (Free-running plain-bearing fit for shafts made to a coarser IT9 grade, used where H9/e9-class play is acceptable but the housing bore needs the tighter IT8 tolerance.).
At Ø25 mm e9 is −0.040 / −0.092 mm, i.e. 24.908 to 24.960 mm.
How the limits are calculated
e9 uses grade IT9 (a standard tolerance of 52 µm at 18–30 mm). Fundamental deviation: es is tabulated directly by ISO 286-1 Table 2; ei = es − IT9. See the fundamental deviation table for every letter. Values per ISO 286-1:2010.
